Work, Volunteer, and Donate

We welcome individuals or organizations with compassion, empathy, and desire to give back to the community and support H4’s mission, giving hope to those less fortunate.  H4 is looking for volunteers or employees with clinical training and experience, including family practice/internal medicine physicians, psychiatrists, APRNs, registered nurses, physician assistants, licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, and medical assistants.

We anticipate hiring in early- to mid-2021.  If you are interested in employment, please email your background and resume to:

H4 is always looking for dedicated volunteers.  In addition to people with clinical skills, we welcome those interested in providing non-clinical support, which could include administrative, clerical, or housekeeping work.  Some examples of specific volunteer duties (depending on clinical competencies and level of experience) include:

  • Welcome clients to the clinic

Direct the person to the sign-in log and forms.
    Ask for insurance information.
Enter demographic information into H4s practice management system or electronic medical record (EMR)
Verify the persons ED/hospital discharge records

  • Prep patients for the medical provider:

    Take vital signs
Enter clinical data into the EMR

  • Sweep and mop the clinic as needed, keeping the waiting and clinical areas clean and welcoming

For both clinical and non-clinical volunteers, we require a minimum commitment of 80 volunteer hours within 6 months.  If you are interested in volunteering, three steps are required:

  1. Please fill out H4’s volunteer application in Word and send to H4 as an email attachment. Your typed name on the signature line will suffice as affirmation that you have presented accurate information and that you accept the H4 policies delineated in the form.

2.  Complete H4’s online HIPAA training program, which includes a brief test. When you have completed the program, send an electronic copy of the page documenting completion to H4.

3. Document that you have obtained a TB test within the last year. A test result from your current employer is acceptable.  If you have not been tested in the last year, the test is available free of charge at numerous locations statewide.  The location and hours of operation of each site can be found at:  If you do not have access to a scanner, we will accept a cell phone photo of the test completion document.

Please send the application form, HIPAA completion form, and copy of TB test result, along with your resume (if applicable), to

We have partnered with several institutions to provide a clinical rotation for their students: University of Washington Physician Assistant Program, University of Hawaii School of Nursing (both Manoa and Hilo programs), Hawaii Pacific University School of Nursing, and Kapiolani Community College Department of Emergency Medical Services.

If you are attending one of these programs, please contact your faculty clinical coordinator to request placement with H4.  If you are attending another applicable program, discuss the possibility of an affiliation with H4 for your program with an appropriate faculty representative. Our preceptors are limited to two students in order to assure ample hands-on experience.

We encourage groups or professional service organizations to submit a proposal on how your organization can support our patients, through a one-time community service project or ongoing program.  Just a few ideas: organize a comfort kit for our medical respite patients, be a big brother/sister or peer companion for our patients, invite patients to your church, or provide transportation for patients through cab vouchers, gas or Uber/Lyft credits.  Be creative!

You can make a monetary donation to H4 through the Network for Good, an organization dedicated to providing a secure mechanism for donating to a variety of charitable organizations.  Click on and write Hawaii Homeless Healthcare Hui in the “Charity Name” box.
